In 2006 LAWS launched The Local Authority Charter for the Welfare of Animals.

Our charters are very important because local authorities are not always aware their duties, rights, powers and responsibilities in regard to animal welfare. These charters will enable local councils to work alongside the Government to improve the lives of animals in their areas.
